Fully Funded One-to-One Guidance

Are you interested in becoming a teacher and making a difference to the lives of local children?

The Fenland and East Cambridgeshire Opportunity Area is offering a fully funded, bespoke one-to-one guidance service for all those over the age of 16 who are interested in training as a qualified teacher. Delivered in partnership with The Diamond Teaching School Alliance, the programme includes tailored face-to-face and/or telephone support from a dedicated and experienced ‘Teacher Training Guide’.

Your guide will be able to provide you with:

  • clear information about the routes available to become a teacher in the area
  • guidance on the steps you need to take to achieve your teaching goals
  • assistance with applications and personal statements

Looking for a career change or already made your decision that teaching is right for you?

The programme also includes a Teaching Experience Programme for undergraduates, graduates and career-changers. This will give you the opportunity to gain up to five days’ practical experience in a school matched to your phase and subject interest in Fenland and East Cambridgeshire.

Placements will take place in schools which showcase strong teaching. You will have the opportunity to experience a real-school environment, ask questions of teachers and understand what it is to teach day-to-day.

This hands-on experience could also be used in a future application to help you demonstrate a more in-depth knowledge of the profession when applying to initial teacher training courses. The connections built during your experience in local schools will be invaluable when you come to build your future teaching career.
